Vintage shopping with my friend Mallory

I’ve officially been in New York (well, technically New Jersey but only the truly obnoxious would ever really give a crap) since May 15th. Tomorrow bookends the highest number of consecutive days I’ve lived here. True, I moved back in May, but I have been out of town for the majority of my residence. It feels good to actually feel like I live here.  Since I’ve been back, I started working and auditioning regularly, showing my out-of-town friends the city, and taking Donut on long walks in Central Park.  We are healthier (and skinnier!) because of it.  Ran into a couple of crazies, of course, one of which called Donut the N-word a couple of days ago while we walked down Madison Avenue.  Ridiculous.  Who calls a dog the N-word?

Gidget and Donut watching TV

My apartment and roommates are lovely. We’re getting another little roommate soon named Baxter, who happens to be a toy poodle belonging to my roommate, Kim. How Gidget and Donut will handle this new addition to their lives, we’re not sure, but it should be  quite an adventure.  And quite noisy.  From what I’ve been told, Baxter loves to play with toys.  Donut does not like to share his toys.  We’ll see.

Bryant Park

I’ve been waiting for something to piss me off since I’ve been here.  Having moved so much within the past 5 years, there’s always something that goes horribly wrong in the beginning that makes me question every decision that led me to my current situation.  Last week, there was not one day, not one that went by where something didn’t make me want to jump in front of a train.  I went through each day saying to myself, You knew this was coming so just deal with it, you big baby. By the end of the week, all I wanted to do was stand in the middle of Times Square and cry my eyes out.  No one would notice, they’re too busy looking up.  When I found out my grandfather died almost two months ago, I was in Bryant Park, bawling.  While my friend Nick went to fetch me a margarita to calm my nerves, no one stopped to offer sympathy.  That’s asking too much, I guess, especially on Movie Monday.

Anyway, the bad things have thankfully passed and now things have started to settle a bit.  I’ve been working on my music and have recorded one track already which will be available soon as a free download.  Writing new material has been a bit of a challenge lately.  My muse has been misplaced for the time being.  Inspiration comes in snippets these days and I do my best to write everything down so I won’t forget.  I hope my muse returns soon…I miss it.

Maybe later it will all come together.  I hope so.  I really need my muse back.  And I really need to update this blog more.  I blog in binges, I apologize.

Till next time.

From Here To Eternity

I’ve probably watched this movie over 30 times the past two weeks.  I fall asleep to it every night.  Slightly obsessed?  Maybe.  But it’s still a great movie.

My favorite line is when Burt Lancaster character tells Deborah Kerr’s character, ”I wish I didn’t love you.  Maybe I could enjoy life again.”

You know what?  I think I’ll watch it again.  Right now.

A little bit of Memphis

21 Apr

I’ve been out all day enjoying the city. Had lunch at Flying Fish, visited the ducks at The Peabody Hotel, took a long walk up and down the Mississippi Riverwalk, and now I’m at the Memphis Redbirds vs. Iowa Cubs game. I’m beat! Go Redbirds! I love blogging from my iPhone LOL!!

Binge Blogging

I suck.  I don’t update as much as I used to, sorry.

Nothing to report since last time except that I had one more garage sale and pulled in a couple extra bucks. Sold my childhood desk which broke my heart but at least it still lives near my parents’ house around the corner on the next street over.

But while I was in Cali I got to eat everything I wanted and see (almost) everyone I wanted.  No beach because it was still a bit too cold.  I could have gone the last couple of weeks I was home, but I didn’t.  Oh well.

I’m addicted to nail polish.  My nails are delicately long and filed and painted and polished and adorned with jewels.  Yes, truly.  I do my own nails because I’m too cheap to get them done.  But I do a good job, I think.

Got back to Memphis this past Wednesday.  I miss Cali already but whatevs.  Just gonna hang around till the next gig.  I’ll be doing …Spelling Bee again.  Love the show, love the character, love the company…  Until then, I’m gonna sleep, paint my nails and cuddle my dog.  My life isn’t hard, hahaha…aww…

I’ve got lots of musings in my head right now but my nails are still wet so I can’t really type too much.  As it is now I’m typing sooo slow and meticulously.  I’ll write more later.

New site to be up before the month is over.  How exciting!  Zzzz…
